Ever wondered what the first cohort of Beloved in the Desert’s orientation looked like? Well here you go!

Here is our schedule from orientation for the curious! I will edit a few things for next year, but aside from being little long, most elements were important to have and were well received:

-July 22: Arrive!

Welcome! Choose initial bed-pick knowing you can renegotiate throughout the week. Drink lots of water.

-July 23: Welcome

8 am Orientation to prayer book offices with Ben-Nave

9-10 Beth helps enroll in Insurance as needed

10:45-12-Welcome with Taylor: Overview of community guidelines, Begin Rule of Life discussion, worship, service, community expectations and supports available, Introduce arc of the year - Parish Hall

2-4 Erika leads Rule of Life and Community conversation

7:30 Ben leads optional yoga -back of nave

8 Evening Prayer - Ben facilitates and offers options - Evening Prayer is more flexible than Morning

-Wednesday, July 24:

8 am Morning Prayer - Nave

9-11 am Bill K-Bus and Light Rail tour - meet at Beloved House

1-3 pm Arizona State Museum tour with Diane D., meet in lobby at ASM by 1.

Car or bike or bus  to Saint Philip’s

5:30 Mosaic - pick out some games to take to house if desired (room 9) get a little tour, have some casual dinner

Take some time to work on safeguarding (done by Aug 1), pre-reading for tomorrow, etc.

-Saturday, July 27:

- 6:30-8: Community Potluck and House Blessing. Please be ready to host and give tour with necessary plates, cutlery for 20, and drinks. There are three packs of outdoor lights if you want to decorate it. You can also wait til it’s cooler of course!

-Sunday, July 28: First Sunday at Saint Philip’s, Commissioned at 10 am service and welcomed.

By 9:30, arrive at Saint Philip’s for 10 am service. Meet in Gallery after service for welcome coffee hour. Have a nice afternoon, after!

-Monday, July 29:

8:30 Planned to go up Mt Lemmon but ended up having to skip due to lightning, instead visited the Mission San Xavier and the Gardens at the base of A Mountain.
