The Right Rev’d Jennifer A. ReddalL
Bishop diocesan

Jennifer A. Reddall was elected the Sixth Bishop of Arizona on October 20, 2018, at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Phoenix. She was consecrated at Church for the Nations in Phoenix, on March 9, 2019, and was seated on April 7, 2019, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

Associate for Intergenerational Ministries

 

Mtr Taylor enjoys building intergenerational community and partnerships within Saint Philip’s and the wider Tucson community.

A graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary, Mtr Taylor previously served in urban, suburban, and rural Episcopal parishes in Virginia and Maryland. She believes in the power of prayer, intentional community, and of God in Christ who comforts the broken-hearted and makes a way for all people.

Mtr Taylor and her family enjoy hiking, stroller-walks, and reading.

the Rev’d Robert Hendrickson
rector

 

Fr Robert is the Rector of Saint Philip's and oversees the staffing, governance, and ministry of the parish while providing vision and leadership that helps shape how we follow Christ as a community. He came here after serving as the Sub-Dean and Acting Dean of Saint John's Cathedral in Denver.

Prior to that, he served as Curate and Missioner at Christ Church, New Haven, Connecticut, and St. Hilda's House in New Haven, Connecticut, where he co-founded the North American branch of the Society of Catholic Priests. He is the author of Yearning: Young Adults, Mission, and the Church. Before ministry, he was Corporate Communications Director for Brooks Brothers in New York City. He attended the General Theological Seminary, the University of Mississippi, Cornell University, and Beijing Foreign Studies University. He blogs, has work published regularly, and serves as a consultant on generational transitions and leadership with several institutions.

the Rev’d Matthew Reese
Curate

 

The Rev’d Mary Trainor
Associate for Pastoral Care & Administration

 

Fr Matthew joined Saint Philip’s in 2024 after graduating from Yale Divinity School. He oversees the day-to-day liturgical life of the parish, and helps coordinate Adult Education and Formation with staff and lay leaders.

Before attending seminary, Fr Matthew worked as a professional musician—primarily as a conductor. He’s a cellist, and also came up as a chapel and cathedral singer. From 2018-2024, Fr Matthew also taught music history at the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University.

When not working, Fr Matthew and his wife, Emma, enjoy antiquing and exploring towns they haven’t visited. Fr Matthew is also a fan of late-night comedians Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert.

Primary Responsibilities

Liturgical life and Adult Education & Formation

 

Mtr Mary joined Saint Philip’s staff in 2019 and has overall responsibility for pastoral care, funeral planning, and columbarium record. She also manages the day-to-day operations as Business Administrator.

Prior to joining Saint Philip’s, Mtr Mary was based in the Diocese of Los Angeles where she served as vicar and rector for two church communities in Los Angeles and Orange counties. She received her Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas.

Before becoming ordained, Mtr Mary was a daily newspaper editor, and administrator and communicator for a large group of nonpublic schools.

Mtr Mary shares her life with her French Bulldog, Emmylou—an aspiring therapy dog—and her cat, Norah Jones.

Vestry

The Vestry is a group of elected volunteers that serves as the parish’s functional Board of Directors. Vestry members, who serve in three groups for three-year terms, provide leadership and oversight of the mission and ministry of the congregation, and manage the church buildings and property, finances, and personnel.

Dr Justin Appel
Director of Music

Justin Appel has directed Saint Philip's choir programs since the summer of 2017, when he also received a doctorate in choral conducting from the University of Notre Dame. Justin is an avid pianist, singer, and composer who also enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with his five children.

Dr Jeffrey Campbell
Associate Music Director & Organist

Jeffrey Campbell is the Associate Music Director and Principal Organist, a position he has held at Saint Philip’s since 2001. Away from the organ bench, he may be found listening to classic vinyl recordings, and enjoying swimming and dining. Jeffrey is married to Vicky, an elementary school teacher, and they have an adult son, Christopher, who enjoys singing in the choir when time allows.

Ayden Carrell
on-site sexton

 

Ayden is the parish’s on-site sexton and a retired firefighter. He is also an avid photographer and many of the photographs on our website and social media are his. His photos were recently published in a book, as well.

 

Kiki Cheney
Associate for communications & Welcome

 

Kiki is a former attorney with experience in congregational development and planned giving with the Episcopal Church Foundation and administration at churches in Tucson and Kennebunkport, Maine. At Saint Philip's, she manages the parish’s communications, including the weekly e-newsletter, The Bell & Tower. On Sundays she is under the blue umbrella where she welcomes newcomers, answers questions about the parish, and helps connect people with shared interests.

Kiki and her husband, the Rev’d Peter G. Cheney, live with Josie, their fluffy rescue dog.

cheryle johnson
weclome/reception desk

Cheryle is originally from southwestern Pennsylvania where her son and grandson still reside. She spent five years in Florida before moving to Tucson in 2020 to join her daughter who lives here.

Listening to music, dining out, attending festivals, and meeting new people are some of Cheryle’s favorite pastimes. She also loves short road trips and is excited to explore the beauty of Arizona. Cheryle is delighted to be at Saint Philip’s.

Myron Molzen
Facilities Manager

 

Myron joined the Saint Philip’s staff in December 2016. He schedules the use of facilities and works with Head Sexton Ca Nguyen, sexton staff, and others to ensure satisfaction with every aspect of facility management. He reports to the Business Administrator. He is the primary liaison between Administration and Buildings and Grounds.

Myron has more than 35 years of hospitality and management experience. He and his partner of 30+ years, Daniel, have two dogs, Kermit and Sammy, and enjoy spending time in their yard and home when not working.

Myron grew up on a farm in the Kansas Flint Hills and studied and was on staff at Kansas State University. Following college, he pursued a career in restaurant and hotel management. After several years in Colorado, Myron accepted a position in Tucson and has been here for the past thirty years.

Ca Nguyen
Head Sexton

Ca joined the Saint Philip’s staff in 1996 and became Head Sexton in August 2016. Ca generally works the morning shift and Sundays, and supervises and schedules the sexton staff. With his team, Ca insures that the church campus is clean, well maintained, and ready for our many events. Originally from Vietnam, Ca was an Army officer and helicopter pilot in the South Vietnamese Army.

 

shelby parsons
bookkeeper

Texas is where Shelby was born but she grew up around the globe as a military brat. She is a wife, mother of two children, Sadie (4) and Simeon (3), and a servant of the Lord.

Shelby worked previously as Bookkeeper and Operations Manager for Kampgrounds of America (KOA).
