Altar Guild changes
On Thursday, May 6, 2021, Altar Guild members met via Zoom to present a silver medallion to Cecilia Hunter, the current Altar Guild Directress, in recognition of her two years of service. Two days later, on Saturday, May 8, at an Altar Guild workday Cecilia was given the medallion in person.
Cecilia had a very challenging term as Directress navigating through the pandemic, but she admirably fulfilled her leadership responsibilities with monthly "Zooms,” regular emails and phone calls and in situ meetings as needed. The Altar Guild Manual has no provisions for dealing with a pandemic!
Cecilia will continue as Directress through September when Sue Cross will begin her two-year term as the new Directress.
The silver medallion was originally designed by Frank Patania and has been given to Altar Guild Directresses over the years. Four generations of the Patania family have designed and crafted jewelry for Saint Philip's since 1937. Their exquisite jewelry collection can be seen at www.spatania.com.
