First month in the field

Claire reflects on her first month as a Beloved in the Desert Corps Member serving at the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona:

“This first month I have been oriented to the Food Bank and I’ve been working on helping to recruit volunteers for food distribution and food production. We are actively recruiting volunteers as a part of the pandemic recovery effort. I’ve also been working on reaching out to faith-based organizations and getting them engaged, I’ve been working with Mtr Taylor to get Saint Philip’s plugged into the programs here. I’m excited for the events coming up: we have HungerWalk 2021 on 9/11, and I’ll help with that and walk with Saint Philip’s. I am excited to see all the different events play out and also to learn more about the different programs. I’ve volunteered at Food Distribution events and Caridad Community Kitchen where I helped with the daily grab-and-go meals, and we have different opportunities to go to Marana, Green Valley, and Nogales’ resources centers. I’m excited to see all the different parts of the Food Bank.”

Stay tuned for an intergenerational Day of Service in October at the CFB, along with opportunities to serve and enjoy fellowship at Winterhaven this December.
