Sunday forum

This Sunday, November 3, Saint Philip’s Creation Care Commission will welcome Carianne Funicelli for a Q&A at 11:30am about plants native to the Sonoran desert.

The conversation will begin at 11:30am in the East Murphey Gallery and then move to different areas of the campus to discuss pros and cons of different plant choices.

Carianne moved to Tucson in 1998 specifically because she loves the native plants of the Sonoran Desert. Since then, she has become a well-known advocate for native plant conservation and restoration, and has conducted projects large and small throughout the southwest region, both in wild areas and urban landscapes.

Carianne has a degree in Botany, and has served as the President of the Society for Ecological Restoration, Southwest Chapter and of the Tucson Chapter of the Arizona Native Plant Society. She also served a term as the Wildlife Habitat Representative on the City of Tucson's Landscape Advisory Committee.

With her consulting firm, Strategic Habitat Enhancements (SHE), Carianne helps clients bring nature to their yards with strategic native plant choices.
